Cookies: Not so Delicious

Cookies are data-tracking devices that websites use to track the browsing history of internet users. Generally speaking, there are two main types of cookies: first-party cookies and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are placed on a computer by the site a visitor goes to, and typically only track information within a specific website. Third-party cookies, on the other hand, are placed by groups which are typically unaffiliated with the website being visited, and can track browsing history outside of the site initially visited.

Controlling cookies may therefore be important, particularly for small businesses. In most cases, the settings available in your browser options will enable you to disable all or certain types of cookies, helping to improve your network security and reduce the visibility of your browsing history. Additionally, some types of software currently available can help to detect and, if necessary, remove cookies from your browser.
