Homeland Security

The nation has entered an era of asymmetrical threats and the risk of attacks on critical infrastructure by terrorists, political fanatics, religious extremists and other non-state actors. This new era requires new approaches to risk identification, assessment and mitigation. Information technology has the potential to play a powerful role in this regard. To realize the potential of IT in homeland security and thereby reduce threats to lives and property, government, industry and the public at large must all play important roles.
