The ITAA Software program represents small to large companies that provide enterprise software related services for storage, information security, enterprise management, business intelligence, entertainment, or a variety of other purposes. The Software program focuses on business development, peer-to-peer networking, and policy issues like software security and quality, intellectual property, standards and regulation, finance, tax, accounting,--all with an eye to helping members promote and expand the software industry.
Program activities include a series of initiatives designed to raise the industry’s visibility through outreach to customer groups, including executive dinners with Fortune 500 CIOs, an image campaign to create a more positive image of the IT Industry; and exchange with counterpart organizations in the European Union, India, and the Far East.
The Software Program pursues industry self-governance goals by monitoring software industry quality issues, exploring best practices, addressing human Resources issues as needed and assessing IT standards, including Section 508 accessibility standards.
ITAA is also driving the industry’s agenda forward on intellectual property matters, with programs and activities that focus on digital rights management and promote the interests of innovation and consumer choice, patent reform, software piracy and open source software development.
On Corporate Governance, the ITAA Software program is deeply involved in best financial practices, the treatment of stock options, implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other governance issues.
No matter how good the trade group, member mindshare is limited. Software Program business development activities take a practical, business-oriented approach. The ITAA Software Program helps members make sense of market changes, turn opportunities into business advantages and build industry consensus for progress in Washington, D.C., state capitals and around the world.
