ITAA Membership and Structure

ITAA full membership is open to all companies offering commercial information technology products and services in the United States market. ITAA affiliate membership applies to companies offering business products and services to IT companies in the United States. Affiliate member companies include law firms, insurance companies and specialized information services. Personnel recruiters (“headhunters”) however are not eligible. “Membership” applies to companies, not individuals (as would be found in a professional society).

ITAA operates “core” programs serving the needs of all members. Core programs are: emerging technology, information security, international public policy, tax policy, intellectual property policy, RFID, and workforce and education. Each core program operates with professional staff and maintains one or more member committees, Member companies belong to one or both of ITAA's groups designed to meet specific market needs: Public Sector Group (PS), Commercial Sector Group (CS). Companies select group membership based on their particular business model, policy concerns and business interests.

Public Sector Group (PS)
The Public Sector Group is a leading promoter of e-Gov for the federal, state, and local government markets. Companies looking to network with major IT contractors or dialogue with their government customers have ample opportunity within the PS Group. Opportunities include meeting with Federal Agency CIO’s, State and Local CIO’s, program managers, and other key decision makers, and actively influencing outsourcing/procurement issues with agency and congressional officials.

Commercial Sector Group (CS)
ITAA’s Commercial Group advances the IT industry in the consumer and industry markets through top flight policy advocacy, elite networking and business development opportunities, and market and business intelligence. Among its key missions are the defense and promotion of a global delivery model driven by global networks and human capital supplies; strengthening of information security and advocating for fair tax policies.

WITSA
In addition to core programs and divisions, ITAA also serves as Secretariat for the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). WITSA is an association of over 65 national IT trade associations. WITSA advocates policies that advance the growth of the global IT products and services marketplace and facilitates international trade in IT. ITAA Governance
The ITAA board of directors, composed of IT company executives, governs the association. A Chairman and Vice Chairman lead the board, which meets on a quarterly basis In addition, each ITAA Group operates its own board of directors. Each Group Board sends its board chairman and an additional representative to serve on the ITAA Board, As many as five other senior IT executives are nominated to serve one-year terms as “at large” members of the ITAA Board. For resolutions requiring a board vote, a quorum of members (more than one-half) is required and a simple majority of a quorum is required for passage. The Board maintains an Audit Committee and a Finance Committee. The ITAA full Board of Directors sets the budget and policy directions for the overall association.

Group boards are composed of executives from companies belonging to those respective groups. Each board has a nominating committee and ITAA group members vote for a slate of candidates annually. Group boards set the budget and program directions for each group. Groups operate with committees, subcommittees and ad hoc task forces, depending on program goals and objectives. Group boards report their activity to the ITAA full board.

ITAA President Phillip J. Bond provides day-to-day executive leadership of the organization. Mr. Bond is a full-time member of the 35-person professional staff.

ITAA is a non-profit corporation organized under Section 501(c)(6) of the IRS Code and incorporated in the State of New York. The association maintains its headquarters in Arlington, VA, with a branch office in San Mateo, CA.
